We walked around and above the dam (it was very cool to look down at all that concrete, and the Colorado River so far beneath us). We took a tour of the dam, which brought us below and inside the dam walls to see the huge electric turbines that provide electricity for areas of Nevada, Arizona, and California (generating 4 billion kilowatt hours a year!)

Checking out Hoover Dam

HOT HOT HOT

Yes, it was HOT!!! 112 degrees, and this was in the morning hours. The humidity was much less once we were out of Vegas, and now I can see what they mean by 'dry heat'. Once we were done with the dam tour, we jumped in the van and headed northeast to Utah.
