AKC Agility Trial, Toledo, Ohio

Happy July Fourth! Pretzel and I competed all three days at an AKC agility trial in Toledo. Well, what can I say about this trial? Ummm...we had fun! Pretzel was really wild all three days. he was super fast, got way ahead of me and then picked his own obstacles and path when he couldn't see my direction. He blew most of his contacts, went visiting along the sides of the rings, took a few extra tunnels than what was required...he had a grand old time! Unfortunately, this resulted in a weekend of all NQ's. I was a bit frustrated - I like the enthusiasm but I hate when he just ignores me and does whatever the heck he wants. I thought we had gotten beyond this issue but not so.

Oh well, my friend got some great pictures of us, so that was something! Back to the drawing board we go...

I had a beautiful ride outside with Tango. He was full of energy, but I was able to direct that energy towards good instead of evil LOL! That boy sure is a klutz - he constantly trips over his own feet. One of these days he is going to go down...I just hope I am not on his back when this happens.

I really intended on showing him on Saturday. However, I got a braiding job for two horses Friday evening, and I have to spend all day Friday at school preparing for band camp. I would have no time to get him ready, and I can't afford not to do the braiding job. So I guess I will be the responsible adult and skip the show and get my work done. *sigh*...

AKC Agility Trial - Columbus, OH

I had really hoped for better results this weekend, but we had more of the same as Toledo - lots of distracted running, playing, taking extra obstacles, skipping obstacles, sailing over the contacts...you name it! I did have a couple really nice moments when I was able to send him over a line of obstacles and he did them great. I did have one really nice jumpers run, but he knocked a bar resulting in an NQ. That's probably the only class in the past month that I am willing to share a video with the public LOL!

At times I feel frustrated enough to give up, but deep down inside I know that giving up is not an option. I will just keep trying and keep trying to learn.
