I need about 10 more hours added on to each day this week. There is too much stuff to do – and I am talking work related stuff (yuck!). Our big spring concert is Thursday. Dress rehearsals all day wednesday. Wednesday evening Taylor heads to the breeding farm in Ft. Wayne. Tuesday all day I unload and sort plants and flowers for the band fundraiser. Friday I leave for Cleveland to spend with family. In between all that i need to get stalls cleaned, laundry done, my desk organized, band projects graded, argh!

I wonder what our lives would be like if days were 34 hours long instead of 24. Would we sleep more? Would we just end up working longer hours at our jobs, or would we work the same hours but have a lot more free time to spend doing our own thing? It’s an interesting concept…if we could slow the earth’s rotation down a bit to add the extra 10 hours. I would want those 10 hours to be daylight, but I suppose it would be impossible…half would have to be night. That’s OK…I can get a lot done at night!

Imagine if humans didn’t need to sleep. We’d have all those extra overnight hours to do stuff. I’d develop a few new hobbies, or spend more time doing the ones I have. I think I’d be a neater person because I wouldn’t be in that eternal rush I am always in, and would have time to properly put things away and take care of things. That would be cool…that would cut out a large segment of stress in my life. However, I imagine that stress would just be replaced by some other cause for stress. We as humans are destined to stress, worry and fret about things out of our control.

Wow, I am good! Totally psychic! Did I NOT predict this????

It’s funny. I am getting pretty good at reading peoples’ personal signs. I see the little rumblings, the hum of oncoming traffic, the tiny pinprick of light in the tunnel belonging to the freight train. It gets closer, rumblings get louder, a few more incidents, and then BLAMMO I get smashed by traffic as the train mows me down. Yep, I am good. I can see it coming a mile away. The part I am not good about is getting out of the darn way so I don’t get mowed down. I am learning…slowly.

Lesson #1 – Count on NO ONE but yourself. I mean NO ONE. When it all boils down, no one really cares about anyone other than themselves, so why should you put yourself out there and spend so much time being concerned about someone that doesn’t give a flying fig about you? Put yourself first. Pay yourself first, then pay your bills (I read that somewhere, it makes sense!).

Taylor leaves today for the breeding farm. The time is drawing hear…she is fat, pregnant, a little crabby, and about a month and a half from her due date. I am excited!!!

There is a stopwatch in my office that I use to time our halftime shows. Somehow it got set on an alarm mode, and every single morning at exactly 7:58am it starts beeping, and beeps for a full minute. I cannot figure out how to disable this alarm! What kind of mo-ron am I – I can write code for webpages, run complicated charting software, and even edit digital videos and photos, but I cannot turn off the alarm on a $3 plastic stopwatch. Weird…

Rain rain rain Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Could there be any worse weekend to have rainy cold temperatures? The world and the stars are conspiring against me, I swear.

Yeah, but my phone is still ultra cool!

It’s August already. How depressing is that?

Let’s see, what have I accomplished this summer?

NOTHING!

I did get to do some travelling – a last-minute trip to the Bahamas in June, Florida with the family in July plus a quick jaunt to New Orleans (details coming later). Oh yes, a horse show in Liberty, Kentucky and one in Winfield, West Virginia. the rest of the summer has been spent trying to get my horse sound. First a tendon strain (out for 5 weeks), then a shoulder injury (out for 4 weeks). Now we are in retraining season, trying to find that sane, quiet, experienced show horse I had at the end of last season. Where is she????

While in West Virginia, I won enough money at the greyhound track to buy me a new bling bling cell phone case. That was cool. I can pick them dawgs!

I spend a lot of time on facebook’s horse racing (HR 12 to be exact). I now have 1.4 quadrillion dollars (and that’s NOT an exaggeration!). That’s a useful way to spend my free time!

Here is a list of things I have not gotten done like planned this summer:

Clean my desk…clean clean clean! I vowed to do some major cleaning of my stuff. I MUST get it done.

Ride Taylor to keep her in shape. Nope, did not ride her once this summer. i rode once this spring, and that’s it. Now she’s probably too fat to get a saddle on. I don’t want to jostle the baby, anyways!

Organize the garage attic. Yuck, it’s waaaaay too hot up there in the summer. I went up there a couple times but I can barely breathe in that heat. Maybe this should be a late fall/early spring project?

Run every other day. Yeah…right. I did run almost every day while in Florida. I do feel pretty good in shape, since both horses have been home all summer and have kept me moving.

Wax my trucks. I still need to do that.

The list goes on. Hey, the summer isn’t quite over yet. I have a few weeks.

It was fun and amusing hobnobbing with the rich folks. I wonder if anyone knew I bought my entire outfit at Wal-Mart? I went into Versace and found a pair of shorts for $395. i actually saw people buying things there. What a waste of money…their jeans looked just like Levis LOL!

Kevin and I know how to have a lot of fun together.

I learned to play the steel drum…kind of.

Too bad I am not rich enough to probably ever go back there LOL….not exactly a vacation spot for a poor teacher with horses. What an awesome experience, and one more Caribbean island to mark off my list (we are visiting ever one before we die!)

Things that are easy for me:

I am super-highly annoyed today. Here is a short, succinct list of the various annoyances that come to mind at this moment:

The internet server at work has BLOCKED my own website, so now I cannot even look at it during the day. I cannot edit it or anything…what a total pain.

People who make bold, generous statements of promise and never follow through truely annoy me. Why am I surprised? It’s not like it doesn’t happen all the time around here.

Snippy e-mails annoy me. Yeah, like I sit around all day and wait for your e-mail so that I can instantly answer every inane question you have. Grrrr.

Overly defensive people…defenseive in a riduclous form. I mean come ON, if you keep making excuses for yourself, even you will cease to believe them. It’s not a competition, unless you want it to be.

Last minute procrastinators should NOT blame anyone but themselves. Not my fault if you waited until February 12 to seriously prepare for a competition on February 16.

Contrary to popular belief, you are NOT the king of the world, and everyone else on earth was not put here to make your life more convenient.

Dumb wipes, keep your MP3 player in your pocket.

Someone needs to donate to my Zune fund…NOW!
